PV metrology since 1978, now under one roof.
Avalon ST (founded 2018) and Pasan SA (founded 1978) design and build the high-accuracy solar simulators and electroluminescence systems trusted by laboratories, certification bodies and gigafactories across 40+ countries.
Two heritages, one platform.
In June 2025 Avalon ST acquired Pasan SA, uniting two of the most respected names in PV measurement under a single roof. The result is one product family, Nexun, covering xenon-class accuracy, LED long-pulse, steady-state and field-portable systems.
- 1978Pasan SA founded in Neuchâtel, pioneers Class A xenon flash solar simulators.
- 2018Avalon ST founded, full-LED solar simulator architecture for large-area PV.
- 2020First xenon-equivalent spectrum delivered on a full-LED, large-area system.
- 2025Avalon ST acquires Pasan SA, uniting two of the most respected names in PV metrology under one roof.
- 2026Combined Nexun product line covers research, lab, production and field.

How we engineer.
The Pasan styleguide calls for sober, factual presentation. The Avalon engineering style is the same: no marketing physics, traceable numbers, honest trade-offs.
Measurement is the product.
Our customers don't pay for light, they pay for traceable, repeatable numbers. Every Avalon system is built backwards from the data it must produce.
End-to-end engineering.
Light source, power electronics, control software, calibration chain, designed and built under one Swiss roof. No black-box subassemblies.
Made for a thirty-year window.
PV manufacturing lines outlive most instruments. We design for serviceability, modular upgrades and a clear software lifecycle.
Honest about trade-offs.
We won't pretend a production line needs research uncertainty, or that a research bench should be sized for throughput. The configurator says what's right.
Globally deployed.
Engineering and integration in Neuchâtel; regional sales and service across Asia, Europe and the Americas; field-deployable Mobile Lab teams for plant assessment.
Engineers, build with us.
We hire optical, electronic, software and calibration engineers in Neuchâtel and Shanghai. If you’ve worked on metrology, PV manufacturing or precision instrumentation, write to us directly.
Bring us a measurement problem. We’ll bring an instrument.
Reference visits, application-engineering calls and pilot integrations, book a conversation with one of our engineers.
